We got up early and hit the road around 8:30am from Fort Nelson BC. The drive today was the most beautiful so far..not only was the scenery of mountains and rivers unbelievable we had a national geographic day of wild animals. There are 'moose' signs everywhere but we had yet encountered any until today. Dave saw the first one and when we backed up to take a photo we saw two more hiding in the woods. Second sighting was of caribou grazing along the road which we stopped and took a few photos. Then we saw "buffalo" caution signs and sure enough we saw them so we pulled over for a couple of good shots. There were two literally 'butting heads' they are so much bigger in person than on TV!!
Dave drove about 320 miles today - and we are now in Watson Lake - YT (Yukon Territory) to you lower 48 folk! We had planned on staying at a cozy log cabin-ish hotel here, but when we pulled in - it was boarded up - like most everything in this town - SO we are in a bright yellow hotel which is a cross between what Dave said looks like a dog kennel and I think it looks a lot like the PSYCHO movie's Bate's Motel. We have the wine going right now so we are hoping to forget where we are tonight. Tomorrow we are off to "Whitehorse" YT then to TOK, AK and finally to our new home in Cooper Landing! I feel like we are fugitives running from the law! Enjoy the pics and stay tuned more to come....Heidi & Dave
