Dave and I have been busy getting the house ready for the holidays (not really) but it sure looks like Christmas here in Cooper Landing. It's been snowing on and off the past 2 days..it's pretty but it's April!
Easter Sunday we went to "Kenai" and wandered around Lowes and bought some groceries at Wal-Mart. Had a traditional easter dinner at McDonald's the usual double cheeseburger, fries and coke. We found a beach access road and walked down to see the Alaska Bay which is really the Pacific Ocean. That's us at the beach....
Yesterday we took a walk down the Kenai River that runs past our house; there were 3 bald eagles eyeing my fuzzy black hat I was wearing. Today we went to the the library and got a "library card" again I am not making this stuff up. We met 4 really nice women while checking out the Library which is next to the Community Hall - I'll get to that later. Paula is one of the volunteer library ladies, Heidi - who runs the 3 day a week booty camp I am going to tomorrow, Ann a woman just in the library, and KC who was also getting her library card...I looked down at her drivers license and I thought it was mine because SHE'S FROM PENNSYLVANIA too! She moved here in January and has been working summers here a the 'horseback' riding ranch in town. Anyway, they were all very nice and extremely friendly. They filled us in on some of the upcoming events - Friday night there is a potluck dinner at the school and Saturday is the Pancake Breakfast at the Community Hall. The library looks pretty new, it's a beautiful log cabin and it's pretty big too. So we are trying to get around and meet some of the locals. Everyone we meet tells us how busy this place gets in the summer - we are starting to see more of the lodges in the area with some activity. Tomorrow we are going to stop at some of the area lodges introduce ourselves and see if they need any part time help. More to come..... Heidi and Dave
