We made it to alaska today. Left Whitehorse this morning in a huff. We stayed at what we thought was a nice hotel in Whitehorse. Walked around town (20min) and then had a great dinner at the hotel bar. Our room was nice and we watched some tv and went to bed. So far so good, till yelling and screaming up and down the hotel 2nd floor woke us up till 4am. At 7am the fire alarm went off. Our windows opened up to the roof so I felt semi-safe. We quickly threw on some clothes and looked down our 2nd fl hallway to see high school hockey players in Whitehorse for a tournament yelling at each other in delight that they set off the alarm. We dressed and told the clerk we wanted the night comp'd and they said the kids on our floor flooded one of the rooms tub and the ceiling in the banquet room collasped. The offending kids were taken away by the police. On to the US a bit earlier than we planned. 300 mi today of what turned out to be the roughest of roads we had read about. 40 mph was the tune of today's roller coaster ride with the trailer and the car battling all the way. The final 10 mi of the canadian border was the worst. We arrived in Tok, Ak. and found the cutest little cabins to hang out in tonight. Off to the liquor store for a bottle of wine. Latter we will go to Fast Eddie's for the best food in town we're told. Either that or Grumpy Grizzlies. Pretty boring drive today cept for road heaves, couple animal encounters. I guess we're getting used to the scenery.
Seriously, in tears. What an amazing journey you've had - and you haven't killed each other! That's great. :) Actually, you two sound like two kids in love. I miss you very much and reading these posts make it even worse.
