We've been busy meeting lots of people and attending some of the community activities over the past few days. Friday night there was a drum recitle at the local school which was entertaining...after; Dave and I went to dinner at the Kingfisher Roadhouse. Most of the people who were at the drum recitle showed up there too. We met the owners Shannon and Dom, she sings and he cooks (food is incredible). The waitress was one of the girls at the booty camp I went to the other day (and I am still sore-how pathetic). I think we met about half the town last night! We met the one teacher and his wife, a couple of fishing guides and a plumber. Yesterday we drove around and introduced ourselves to some business owners as well. Dave talked to one of the local fishing guide owners about being a driver for the season. We met a local store owner who may have some part time work for me at her coffee shop - we also wandered over to our neighbors the "Alaska Wildland" (me in the photo above outside one of their cabins) and met the caretaker "J" they are looking for someone to work in the office. This morning we went to the big "Pancake" breakfast at the community hall...again we met more people: Ron, Sue, Chris, Jean, Marge, LeDonna etc......all very nice and eager to tell us about the community and wanting us to join several of their clubs. Dave was invited to join the volunteer firefighters and I was told about the sewing/quilting club! I told the woman my sewing machine was the kit I picked up at the Holiday Inn Express last week! Anyway, they were all very nice and seemed thrilled that we were here. Dave showed me how to 'split' wood today! I was afraid I was going to split my leg before I split a log! Dave made me stick with it and eventually I was splitting wood like a pro (not really) but I still have 2 legs. That's pretty much the updates for now...more to come. Heidi and Dave "Bunyan".
Nice! We met the lake neighbors yesterday while working on the boat at the dock. George told me that we have now met more people in the last week than he has met the whole time he has had a boat in the rack! LOL
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you are up to such exciting stuff. Try to keep your legs, and tan. We should book our next trip NOW!!!
We are working day and night as usual ;)
Love you both, and be careful! No bacon bikini's.
